What We Do
Mira Mesa Women's Club
Our Other Projects
Monarch School
for homeless and
at-risk children)
Our Community
Blood Mobile
We provide art/school supplies to the children and upon
request, backpacks or other needed items.
Our appreciation to our firemen is expressed by providing
root beer floats during the fire-fighting season, pies and
Thanksgiving meals...to name a few. Books are
purchased and donated for our branch library. We donate
books to a school for incarcerated boys. We make certain
our police officers have teddy bears to comfort children in
distress.
Every three months we sponsor a Blood Drive in the Mira
Mesa area. When we are aware of a specific need for
blood, we will dedicate that Blood Drive for that person.
Conservation
MMWC has an ongoing conservation project. We donate
proceeds from recycling to different charities. Our "Penny
Pines" buys an acre of trees every year. Greeting cards
are given to a center for the disabled to recycle into
cards which they sell for profit.
Adopt-a-Family
This is a very rewarding project. Every year we make
certain a worthy family has a special Christmas. This is a
complete Christmas - the tree, gifts for every member,
clothing and food. In 2010, we adopted two Families!
On-going Projects
One homemade meal per month is prepared and
delivered to a homeless teen shelter. Comfy pads are
made for the animals at local animal shelters. We
support many international projects like Heifer
International
Door of Hope
a shelter for abused
women and their
children
The Door of Hope is especially rewarding to us. This
past Christmas we gave 36 Christmas Stockings filled to
the brim and gift bags for the Moms. At Easter time, we
give Easter baskets filled with goodies to the children.
