Women's Club Project Garners International Recognition

Mira Mesa Women's Club has received an International Award for its inaugural Chalk
the Walk visual arts project in 2008. The prestigious honor recognized the extensive
level of community involvement in the project, along with financial grants given to
visual arts programs in area schools.
The Mira Mesa project competed against entrants worldwide in the Arts in the
Community category. Presentation occurred during the General Federation of
Women's Club International Convention in Cleveland, June 14 - 15, 2009.
Chalk the Walk is among the numerous community projects conducted by the Mira
Mesa Women's Club; this year's event occurred May 9 at the Mira Mesa Recreation
Center. Sponsor fees and other financial support generated benefit Mira Mesa-area
schools. Teachers may submit a grant request for funds for a visual arts project by
completing a form found at www.mmwomensclub.com.
