For being an artist at Chalk the Walk, you will receive 10 pieces of chalk in the pastel colors. If you
want additional colors, purchase or use your own chalk but it MUST be water-based.

Some Important Stuff:
  1. The sponsor’s name will be displayed on or by your space. This should not affect your drawing size.
  2. When you are finished, make certain your sidewalk square number is visible on your square.
  3. Please try to keep your supplies to a minimum and well contained by your space.
  4. Please respect the other artists who are working near you. Do not walk on their paintings or have
    open beverage containers which could spill and destroy someone’s artwork.

Some NO-NOs:
  1. NO fixatives may be used on the chalk drawings. Only solid, not-toxic chalk can be used.
  2. NO boom boxes allowed. You may wear portable headsets
  3. NO pets, please!
  4. Art must be family-friendly.   Organizers have the right to disqualify and/or remove any
    inappropriate art or writing as they may deem necessary.
  5. No political or commercial advertising statements.

Suggested Supplies:
  1. Whisk broom or brush for cleaning the drawing surface.
  2. A 2’ x 2’ piece of heavy fabric, carpet square or cardboard to sit or stand on to avoid smearing
    your work.
  3. A soft towel, gardener’s pad, or knee pads to kneel on.
  4. A chalkboard eraser, foam, terry cloth or short-cut brushes for blending larger areas of color.
  5. Brushes to sweep away the loose dust—do not blow the dust particles.
  6. Water and a cloth or sponge to erase unwanted parts of your design.
  7. A cup if you want to use wet chalk
   8. Old towels or rags to clean up as necessary.
   9. Masking tape for creating sharp borders, geometry, or to tape down your design.
 10. Additional chalk, if you need a lot of a certain color.

Some Other Ideas:
  1. Lightweight cotton gloves to protect your hands; disposable latex gloves to protect your fingertips
    and assist in blending colors.
  2. You may want to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, or a hat
  3. If your guardian is going to be with you while you create your art, they may want to bring a small,
    fold-up chair.
